    The major capitals of Eastern Europe are encountered on this multi-country trip – showing you the contrasts and nuances between the places that once lay either side of the Iron Curtain.

    It’s Insider moments like… being welcomed into the capital cities you stay in (or visit) by people who live there. Hopping onto your coach or taking you for a walk around their neighbourhood, you suddenly feel like you could have lived there for years yourself.

    When asked, they readily share their tips for where to shop, eat or just stroll with the locals, so you can seamlessly fit in as you explore in your free time. And you experience European rural life too, returning to nature for two nights in Slovenia’s scenic Lake Bled.

    • Day 1 – ARRIVE VIENNA

      Welcome to Vienna! After check-in, your Local Expert gives a superb historical account of the Hapsburg dynasty during your sightseeing and walking tour of Old Vienna. Admire the Hofburg Palace, Imperial Boulevards, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and ‘Am Hof’. This evening, join your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.

    • Day 2 – VIENNA – LAKE BLED (2 NIGHTS)

      Cross the Loibl Pass in the Karawanken Mountains to the green hills of Slovenia. Arrive later in Lake Bled, an earthly paradise and your home for the next two nights. A beautiful glacial lake in the Julian Alps, Lake Bled is a picturesque and serene escape set amid forests and mountains. There is time this afternoon to explore the medieval castle or take a boat ride on the lake. Dine tonight at your hotel.

    • Day 3 – LAKE BLED FREE TIME

      Spend the day as you wish. Relax or consider joining an optional excursion to the extensive maze of underground caves at Postojna.

      A fascinating city, Zagreb combines the best of Eastern and Western Europe. Spend the rest of the day seeing the sights of your choice.

    • Day 6 – ZAGREB – LAKE BALATON – BUDAPEST (2 NIGHTS)

      Across the border in Hungary, pause for photos on the shores of Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe and known affectionately by locals as the ‘Hungarian Sea’. Continue to the capital Budapest on the banks of the romantic River Danube for your two-night stay.

    • Day 7 – BUDAPEST SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

      Admire the city’s sights with your Local Guide during a walking tour of the city, featuring stunning views over the river from the Fishermen’s Bastion. See Parliament and the Great Synagogue. Join your companions this evening for a delicious Hungarian Be My Guest dining experience.

    • Day 8 – BUDAPEST – SLOVAKIA – KRAKOW (2 NIGHTS)

      North through Slovakia, into Poland and past the foothills of the Tatra Mountains, you arrive in the picturesque city of Krakow. Dine tonight at your hotel.

    • Day 9 – KRAKOW SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

      View the Royal Castle and Cathedral on Wawel Hill during a sightseeing tour with your Local Expert. Your walking tour through the Old Town includes a visit to the Cloth Hall and the Mariacki Church. Spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring.

      Consider an optional experience to the unique Wieliczka Salt Mine, where underground chambers are hewn out of rock salt! This evening, perhaps sample some lively Polish entertainment with dinner.

    • Day 10 – KRAKOW – AUSCHWITZ – CZESTOCHOWA – WARSAW (2 NIGHTS)

      Visit the concentration camp at Auschwitz, a permanent reminder of the horrors perpetrated during the Holocaust. Afterwards, visit Jasna Gora Monastery, Poland’s most famous shrine to the Virgin Mary featuring the iconic Black Madonna of Czestochowa. Finish the day in Warsaw, where you dine tonight at your hotel.

    • Day 11 – WARSAW SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

      Visit the Old Town and the site of the Warsaw ghetto during your morning sightseeing tour with a Local Expert. Admire the Palace of Culture and Science. Later, don’t miss a trip to the Wilanow Palace, the residence of Polish King Jan Sobieski. Tonight you might like to attend a classical music recital.

    • Day 12 – WARSAW – POZNAN – BERLIN (2 NIGHTS)

      Cross Poland’s central plains to Poznan. Stop to view the charming City Hall and see impressive Gothic churches. Continue west to the border town of Frankfurt-an-der-Oder and into Germany. Arrive in the capital, Berlin, one of Europe’s most exciting cities.

    • Day 13 – BERLIN SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

      This morning enjoy a Unique Insight experience with fantastic 360° views of the city from the Berlin TV Tower.       Relax or take an optional excursion to discover the secret past of this magnificent city. Tonight, discover Berlin’s lively nightlife!

    • Day 14 – BERLIN – DRESDEN – PRAGUE (2 NIGHTS)

      Travel through the Spreewald Forest to Dresden. Hear about the restoration of the city during your orientation tour, which includes the Saxon Wall, Semper Opera and 18th century Cathedral. Cross into the Czech Republic, arriving later in the magnificent city of Prague – the political, cultural and economic centre of the Czech state for over 1100 years.

      This evening, enjoy a Regional Meal of Czech cuisine at a local restaurant.

    • Day 15 – PRAGUE SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

      Visit Tabor, former headquarters of the 15th century religious reformer, John Huss. Drive through Southern Bohemia, past the town of Horn and continue to the Imperial city of Vienna. Tonight, celebrate with your fellow travellers and Travel Director at a Farewell Dinner.
