Explore the watery wilderness that is the Okavango Delta. Spending your nights at a range of stylish and secluded accommodation, you’ll experience pristine game viewing areas by mokoro and motor-boating, before continuing to the wildlife-rich Linyanti region known best for its high elephant population, in addition to predators like lion, spotted hyena and leopard.

    • Day 1: Maun – Okavango Delta

On arrival in Maun, meet your local representive and transfer by light aircraft to the Okavango Delta. Spend the next two nights at Vumbura Plains, a luxury camp, located in the northern Okavango Delta.

Vumbura Plains comprises two separate seven-roomed satellite camps, each with its own uniquely-designed lounge and dining area tucked beneath a canopy of shady, indigenous trees. A star-gazing deck is set over the floodplain, a place to gaze upwards or simply enjoy the convivial campfire setting. Each large, luxurious room is raised off the ground, with indoor and outdoor shower and full en-suite bathroom. A step down is the lounge area, open on three sides for an iconic view of the floodplains. Each room also has a plunge pool and ‘sala’.

      Dinner Included

    • Day 2: Okavango Delta

The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango Delta surrounding Vumbura Plains are locally referred to as ‘melapo’ and offer good seasonal viewing of elephant, giraffe, impala, sable antelope, kudu, zebra, common waterbuck and reedbuck, tsessebe, wildebeest, red lechwe and Cape buffalo. Hippo and crocodile are common in the waterways. Predators include the African wild dog, several resident prides of lion, as well as leopard, cheetah and African wildcat. Birding is exceptional all year round.

Vumbura Plains offers both land and water based game viewing activities including game drives in open 4WD vehicles, night drives, mokoro and boating trips, fishing, birding, nature walks and cultural visits.

    • Day 3: Okavango Delta

After a morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, travel by light aircraft to Xigera Camp for two nights.

Xigera Camp is situated deep within the Delta surrounded by water and lush vegetation and nestled in a riverine forest on the aptly named Paradise Island. The camp has ten luxuriously furnished tents, a clever mix of wood and canvas, each with en-suite facilities and an outdoor shower. All are built on wooden decks, offering views of a seasonal floodplain and small lagoon. Meals and drinks are enjoyed in the lounge and dining area overlooking the permanently flowing channel or under the stars in a traditional African boma. The camp is rounded off with a plunge pool and the camp “newspaper” (a sand pit built into the bridge to capture paw prints) which is “read” each morning, revealing last night’s unseen visitors.

Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner Included

    • Day 4: Okavango Delta

At Xigera, the concession’s year-round water allows for the Delta’s most sublime experiences – poling on a mokoro and motorboat outings. This is complemented by game drives in the area depending on water levels. Xigera also offers some of the best birding opportunities in the Delta, with incredible “specials” often seen, such as Pel’s fishing-owl.

    • Day 5: Okavango Delta – Linyanti

After a morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, fly by light aircraft to the Linyanti. Spend the next two nights at Kings Pool premier camp.

Named for Scandinavian royalty, Kings Pool overlooks the handsome oxbow-shaped Kings Pool Lagoon in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve bordering Chobe National Park. The camp’s nine luxurious tents each boast a large bedroom area and lounge leading out onto a veranda with a private plunge pool and thatched sala from which to soak up the gorgeous views and possibly even spot elephant crossing the channel.

The spacious en-suite bathrooms have double showers and hand-basins, as well as an outdoor shower for those who wish to shower ‘in’ nature! The main area comprises a lounge, dining room and a convivial bar beautifully set on expansive raised decks. There is also a pool and an open-air ‘kgotla’ for evening dining under the stars.
