My husband and I have travelled extensively over the last 30 years. First, based from our home in NZ, we traveled throughout Asia, spending many wonderful holidays on the beaches in Thailand, exploring India and Vietnam and seeing in the New Year from our favourite spot in the Rocks, Sydney.
Grabbing an opportunity to live and work overseas we moved to Singapore where my regional job took us not only to all the Asia Pacific Countries but it led us to another business opportunity in Houston, Texas where we live today.
The USA has been an incredible place to live. Traveling around the 50 States is like visiting different countries as each has its own regional differences and delights. Houston is very central. Just over 3 hours flight to the West Coast and the wineries of the Napa Valley; three hours to the shops and shows of New York, two hours to beaches and Art Deco district of Miami and only 2 hours from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Cancun Mexico. Central and South America, the Caribbean islands and Canada are all on our backdoor step which again, are relatively short flights from Houston.
We enjoy trying out different modes of travel; the Orient Express train from Bangkok to Singapore, biking in Estonia, coach trips around South Africa and cruising, which has to be ‘the’ most relaxing way to have a holiday. Our recent cruise was from Istanbul to the Holy lands, through the Suez Canal and all the way around to Dubai. Petra and the Wadi Rum (Lawrence of Arabia’s stomping ground) in Jordan was a real highlight. Camel riding in the dessert with the Bedouin tribes….the only comfortable way to travel with all that sand!
They say when work is your passion, it isn’t work and that is so right. Fine Travel’s concierge-style service is what I expect when I travel. It is a pleasure to share this with other New Zealanders travelling overseas whether for a holiday or on business.
